Please note both Mini 7S and Mini 8 Do NOT have automatic brightness mode selection, you will have to manually adjust the correct brightness mode for every shots (many users mistook the light meter lamp in Mini 8 as the actual brightness setting). If you are looking for automatic mode (point and shoot) you should choose either Mini 25 or Mini 50S.
Conclusion
While Mini 8 is introduced as improvement (or replacement) over the Mini 7S, the differences between the two models are not much unless you prefer to have the extra functions such as the mode suggestion lamp - experienced Instax camera user may not need it while new users can quickly get the hang of which mode to use without the help of the lamp. Users may also like the new "Hi-key" mode not found in any other models. Although Mini 7S is older model, it still remains a attractive choice due to the low cost.
